One of our reputed clients in the Healthcare Services industry is seeking detail-oriented Medical / Clinical Coders to join their Operations team. The role involves reviewing, summarizing, and accurately coding clinical documentation to ensure patient records are properly maintained while escalating only relevant items requiring GP attention.

The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of clinical terminology, medical documentation, and coding standards while maintaining high levels of accuracy and confidentiality.

SALARY: LKR 70,000

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review and analyze incoming clinical documents and extract relevant information.
• Accurately assign SNOMED and other industry-standard medical codes.
• File and update documents within electronic medical record systems such as EMIS Web, Docman, and SystmOne.
• Identify missing or unclear information in patient records and escalate when necessary.
• Ensure only documents requiring GP review are escalated to the Team Lead.
• Maintain accurate and complete patient records in line with clinical coding protocols.
• Support internal quality audits and quality assurance processes.
• Maintain daily productivity targets and document turnaround times.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
• Participate in training sessions, team meetings, and professional development activities.
• Maintain strict GDPR compliance and confidentiality when handling patient data.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Management, Health Information Management, Medical Records, Life Sciences, Nursing, or a related healthcare field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in medical coding or a related healthcare documentation role.
• Good understanding of clinical coding standards such as ICD-10, NHS coding standards, or equivalent international coding systems.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems such as EMIS, Docman, or SystmOne will be an advantage.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
• Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• High level of professionalism and confidentiality when handling patient data.
• Positive, proactive, and adaptable attitude.
