One of our reputed clients in the Healthcare Services industry is looking for experienced Medical Coding Trainers to join their Training Department. The role involves delivering structured classroom-based training programs for medical coders while supporting training initiatives, evaluating trainee performance, and assisting in developing training materials aligned with UK medical coding standards.

The ideal candidate should have strong medical coding knowledge along with excellent training and mentoring skills to support the professional development of coders.

SALARY: LKR 120,000

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver in-person training sessions for new joiners and existing coders on UK medical coding standards.
• Conduct classroom-based training covering coding processes, clinical documentation review, filing, and summarizing procedures.
• Provide practical demonstrations and exercises to improve coding accuracy and productivity.
• Support trainees in understanding coding tools, systems, and workflow processes.
• Assist the Lead Trainer in implementing training programs and training schedules.
• Facilitate induction training programs for newly recruited coders and support staff.
• Conduct assessments, quizzes, and evaluations to measure trainee competency.
• Provide constructive feedback and coaching to support trainee improvement.
• Assist in preparing training manuals, presentations, and learning materials.
• Maintain training attendance records and monitor trainee progress.
• Work closely with quality assurance teams and operational supervisors to ensure training aligns with operational requirements.
• Collect trainee feedback and contribute to improving training programs.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management, Life Sciences, Healthcare, Pharmacy, or a related field.
• Professional certification such as Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent will be an added advantage.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in medical coding or healthcare documentation.
• Previous training, mentoring, or coaching experience will be beneficial.
• Familiarity with UK medical coding standards, SNOMED CT, and NHS guidelines is desirable.
• Strong presentation and classroom training skills.
• Ability to explain complex coding concepts clearly.
• Strong coaching, mentoring, and analytical skills.
• Good documentation and organizational abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
